14 players bit the dust on day 1 of the 2012 PCA’s $100k Super high roller event. 32 buy-ins had been originally registered, which meant that 18 players returned to the tables on day 2. The objective of Day 2 was to play down to the final table, which was accomplished without any kind of problems. A further 10 players were eliminated which put the number of Day 2 survivors to 8. The reigning PCA Main Event champion, Galen Hall was the one who clinched the chip lead going into the final day of action.
Chance Kornuth was not one of the short-stacks at the beginning of the day nonetheless he was the first one to fall. There was just no way he could get away from a perfect hand in which his straight fell to
PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu’s.
Tom Marchese was the next player to fall at the end of a coin-flip, which saw his J,Q bested by Viktor Blom’s pocket deuces.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko followed Marchese to the rail. He had an A,J and he got his chips into the middle before the flop against David Sands’ pocket rockets. Timoshenko’s elimination set the final 15.
As the hostilities progressed, towards the middle of the day, two separate groups emerged: the large stacks and those positioned in a rather hopeless spot by the lack of their chips. Bertrand Grospellier was one of those faced with a do or die decision. He got his last chips in on an A,J, which proved to be no match for Galen Hall’s J,8o. Jason Mercier followed him to the rail in 14th place.
Viktor Blom continued playing small pairs, and he continued to get lucky: his pocket 3s finished off Will Molson’s A,8. Erik Seidel was sent packing next by Daniel Negreanu. David Sands busted out next, followed by Sam Stein in 10th. The final table bubble-boy was Isaac Haxton, Galen Hall the one responsible for his demise.
