2012 SCOOP – Day 15 Report

Day 15 of the 2012 PokerStars SCOOP was the last day when new events got started. A whole bunch of ongoing events came to an end, having played down to their respective winners.
The Main Event kicked off with all three of its versions (H, M and L) and each and every one of them put its initial guarantee to shame. Event #40-H, the $10k NL Holdem Main Event for instance, featured a $2.5 million guarantee. No fewer than 517 players coughed up the buy-in for the event though, creating a prize-pool of $5,170,000. The money bubble was set for 63rd place, and by and by, the field did manage to play down to that mark towards the end of the day. As a matter of fact, the last hand of the day was the one which burst the bubble so there are exactly 63 players returning to duke it out on Day 2. The winner will pick up almost $1 million ($982.3k to be exact) so the battle will indeed be hard-fought. Through the day, various players succeeded at the top of the chip counts, with Kazu Oshima and Ben Vilinofsky both getting an early taste of glory.
Play almost ground to a halt with 66 left in contention. Steve Barshak was the final table bubble-boy, falling to Vilinofsky just short of the promise land. Eventually, it was Oshima who finished with the chip lead, just marginally ahead of Vilinofsky. Andre Akkari also made the top 10 with 285k chips.

Event #40-M shot way past its guarantee too. The 3,567 players who took part in this tournament created a prize-pool of more than $3.5 million. A player known as ‘husajn54’ finished with the largest stack. He had amassed almost 2.2 million chips. Jonathan Davis finished second with a stack marginally larger than $2 million.

Event #40-L saw Adria Balauger shoot to the chip lead. This event more than doubled its initial guarantee too.
