2012 WSOP – Day 2 of Event #61 is in the Books

Earlier today, just as the $10k Main Event got around to its first Day 1 flight, another $10k tournament was playing through its second day of action. The $10k PLO event, which had 386 players belly up to its tables on its first day, saw 168 players return to action. 10 more levels went into the day, at the end of which 32 players were left standing.
Russia’s Alexey Rybin was the one who finished with the largest stack: he had 977k chips bagged. Rybin got going early on Day 2 and he put in a really solid performance, holding on to the lead for most of the day. Mike Watson was the only one who managed to take the lead from him, but the Russian bounced back and finished at the top after all. Watson had a good day too: he finished second with 773k chips.
Other players who had solid days were Johannes Strassman and Nicolas Faure.

As far as “name” competitors go, Daniel Alaei and Jonathan Duhamel finished with healthy stacks as well. Other notables who had their Day 3 tickets punched were Tom Marchese, Alex Kravchenko, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Nacho Barbero, Joseph Cheong and Jared Bleznick.

The first objective of the day was the reaching and the popping of the money-bubble of course. Several notables perished before it was reached, among them NBA player Paul Pierce.
Jamie Pickering had the shortest stack on the bubble and even though he tried his best to hang in there for a few more orbits, in the end the inevitable struck and he was bounced in 46th place, sending all the other survivors into the money.
Following the bubble, the action loosened up a bit and that’s when Peter Jetten, Scott Seiver and Marcel Luske saw the end of their poker tournament lives.
