2012 WSOP – Day 30 Report

As usual, Day 30 of the WSOP saw 5 events play out. Two bracelets were awarded this time around, one of them going to Greg Ostrander, the winner of event #41, the $3k NL Holdem one, and one ending up in Henry Lu’s possession.
Event #41 saw only two players return to action. Ostrander battled Jackie Glazier heads-up for the title. Glazier was looking to become only the second woman to win a WSOP bracelet in an open event since 2008, but it wasn’t meant to be. The heads-up bout lasted a little over an hour. The first big pot of the confrontation was Glazier’s but Ostrander bounced back on the very next hand. After a little bit of back and forth, Ostrander mounted his final assault. The final hand of the poker tournament saw Ostrander’s turned straight best Glazier’s two pair. The winner picked up $742k for his efforts, while the runner up was rewarded with $458.9k.

The other bracelet-yielding event was event #43, the $1.5k NL Holdem one. 20 players returned to the green felt in this one, with Zach Clark leading the way. There were plenty of ‘name’ pros in the field though, and in the end Clark failed to even make the final table. Balazs Botond was there too: he fell in 8th place, collecting $83.8k for his efforts. James Mackey also finished deep: he took down $286k for his 3rd place. The heads-up bout was between Neil Channing and Henry Lu. The heads-up stage lasted for nearly 3 hours. Eventually, after several all-ins, Channing’s Ad,Jd fell to his opponent’s pocket 4s. Lu pocketed $654k to go with his newly acquired bling, while Channing took home $406k.

Event #44, the $1k NL Holdem one, played down to the final 16. The $50k Poker Players Championship kicked off on Day 30, drawing a starting field of 108 competitors. The first day saw the starting field ebb to 63.
The other event which saw action on day 30 was the $2.5k NL Holdem one, which saw its starting field of 1,734 players play down to 233.
