Patrick Kelly was the player who rose to the top on Day 3 of the
PCA’s Main Event. Kelly got kind of lucky in two major hands, both of which revolved around pocket rockets. The first such hand saw Fabian Quoss’ pocket rockets go up against Kelly’s pocket Qs. The Qs managed to crack the Aces and Kelly chipped up massively. The second of the two major hands saw Kelly push his chips into the middle on pocket rockets. Michael Malm went up against him with pocket Ks, but this time, the rockets held to give Kelly another sizable chip-up.
In the end, Kelly ended up having 1.75 million chips bagged. He wasn’t the only player who had a smooth Day 3 ride through. Joe Serock played well too and he too finished with a large stack. Owen Crowe and Darren Elias finished on more than healthy stacks as well.
Serock had quite a start to his day. He went flying out of the gates, taking down a massive pot from Jeremy Kottler to fire up the heater which would carry him through the rest of the day. The hand in question saw the two players bet-call it all the way past the river. Serock showed pocket Ks in the end and Kottler simply mocked his hand.
Once fired up, Serock didn’t stop there. Only a few hands later, he got lucky enough to have a player 5-bet shove against him, while he held pocket rockets. He made the no-brainer call and his hand held for another massive chip-up.
The money bubble of the
poker tournament burst when Robert Mizrachi scored a spectacular double elimination. He sent Vegard Froshaug and Joao Santos packing when his pocket rockets held.
Michael Mizrachi and Will Molson busted shortly after the money bubble.
