2013 PCA Main Event – Day 4 Report

56 players returned to the tables of the PCA’s 2013 Main Event on day 4 of the
poker tournament, looking to play down as close to the final table as possible. Indeed, after about 6 hours of green felt hostilities, only 21 players were left standing. The player who finished day 4 with the largest stack was Dimitar Danchev, who managed to amass more than 4 million chips. His feat was even more impressive in light of the fact that second place man Owen Crowe only had 2.5 million chips bagged.
Danchev caught fire late in the day and he kept up the pressure all the way to the final whistle. In one of the last hands of the day, he locked up with start of the day chip leader Patrick Kelly and Ryan Flair. The preflop betting/raising round saw Flair get out of the way, as Kelly elected to tag along. The flop fell 10h,Qh,7c and Danchev kept up the pressure. In response to his post-flop bet, Kelly pushed all-in, setting up a massive pot. Danchev mulled over the decision for quite a while, but he eventually decided to make the call. He must’ve been relieved when he saw Kelly table a 7s, 6s against his pocket Ks.
Two deuces fell on the turn and the river and Danchev took down the pot.
Crowe had his fair share of heroics too: at one point, he bounced
PokerStars’ Eugene Katchalov, whom –in all frankness – he managed to catch in a rather desperate position. Katchalov pushed his last chips into the middle with pocket 6s and Crowe made the call with pocket rockets. Needless to say, his hand held and Katchalov was out.
Robert Mizrachi finished the day with a massive stack too.
