2013 PCA Main Event – Final Table Reached

Twenty one players returned to the tables of the PCA’s Main Event on Day 5 of the poker tournament, with one goal in mind: to make the final table. Eight of them did indeed accomplish that objective. As for the rest: they were sent packing with consolation prizes of various sizes. The player who negotiated the turbulent waters of day 5 most successfully was Jerry Wong. Wong finished the day with a stack of 7.4 million chips. The only player who got close to Wong’s stack was Joel Micka, who finished behind a pile of 6.47 million chips. Several of the start of the day large-stacks made the final table, including start of the day chip leader Dimitar Danchev. Danchev finished with 1.99 million chips.
Owen Crowe made the final stretch of the event as well: he finished with a pretty decent stack of 2.9 million chips.

Another “name” player who made the final table was Yann Dion, who had 2.5 million chips bagged when all was said and done on day 5. While some of the high profile competitors thrived, others had a really tough time at the tables. Mohsin Charania was the first high-profile victim of the day. He was under the gun when he decided to push his last chips into the middle. He had pocket deuces, but due to his bad position, his all-in proved to be a losing proposition when two players jumped all-in with him. Michael Lipmann was one of the players who made the call. Wong fired out a raise, which was then re-raised by Lipmann. After Wong made the call, all hands were tabled. Wong’s A,10o went on to win the pot, sending Charania packing.
Eddy Sabat bit the dust on Day 5 and Olivier Busquet was eliminated too.
