2013 WSOP Main Event – November Nine Set

The 7th day of the 2013 WSOP Main Event turned out to be its last one, at least for this summer: the November Nine has been reached with the elimination of Carlos Mortensen in 10th place, not even half an hour ago. Even though Mortensen’s elimination meant that the field would go into recess with one less notable, the “name” crowd is still well represented. After all, the player who takes the largest stack into the said recess is none other than JC Tran, the winner of two WSOP bracelets.
David Benefield, Amir Lehavot and Michiel Brummelhuis have made it into the November Nine as well.

27 players returned to action at the beginning of the day and the stakes were high indeed. Benjamin Pollack wasn’t held in suspense for long though: he was the first one who was shown the rail. He was followed by Jorn Walthaus and Jason Mann. Steve Gee had made the final table last year, and he was looking to repeat that performance now. Unfortunately, his run came to a halt in 24th place.
Clement Tripodi – one of the early chip leaders – Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Maxx Coleman followed him out the door.
The start of the day chip leader, Anton Morgenstern, failed to properly leverage his early chip advantage and he started bleeding chips almost straight away. Eventually, he was bounced in 20th place.

James Alexander and Jan Nakladal were the next two victims, followed by Fabian Ortiz and Chris Lindh. Bruno Kawauti, Sergio Castellucio and Alexander Livingston headed to the rail next, in that order. Rep Porter then bit the dust at the hands of Ryan Riess in 12th place to bring the final table bubble closer.
Matthew Reed fell in 11th. In his final hand, Carlos Mortensen had an A,9o against JC Tran’s 8.7o. Tran made a straight to score the knockout.
