2013 WSOP – Martin Finger Wins Event #21

Event #21 of the 2013 WSOP is in the books and a new bracelet winner has been crowned: Martin Finger took home the bracelet and the $506.7k top prize in the $3k NL Holdem 6-handed event, besting an initial starting field of 806 players.
Martin Finger is a well-known pro from Germany, so his victory didn’t exactly come as a surprise for anyone who knows him.
The last day of the poker tournament kicked off with 13 players, among them quite a number of “name” competitors. Matt Stout and Dan Kelly played too, and most of the attention of the press was focused upon Kelly, who had made no fewer than 5 deep runs at this year’s WSOP. Kelly would get his cash finish this time too, but he failed to make the official 6-handed final table: he was bounced by Matt Berkey. The one who followed him to the rail was Erik Seidel. Nick Schulman’s Elimination in 8th place set the final table of 7.

The first victim of the official final table was Andrew Dean, who was eliminated in 6th place by Matt Stout, who then grabbed the chip lead on account of the pot he took down there.
Nikolai Sears was the next victim, followed to the rail by David Pham. Pham was bounced by the eventual winner, Finger.
Matt Berkey was the next victim, and his elimination in 3rd place set up the heads-up stage of the event. Matt Stout had a massive lead when the home dash of the poker tournament kicked off, but he was eventually unable to bring his title run to fruition: after 98 hands of heads-up play, Finger eventually prevailed. The last hand of the tournament saw Finger’s pocket Qs triumph over Stout’s A,7o.
