The third day of the Main Event of the 2016 edition of the
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure saw the Day 2 chip leader, Brazil's Leonardo Pires build up a massive chip lead. Indeed, the day was all about the Brazilian, who managed to have almost 2.1 million chips bagged at the end of it, more than a head and a shoulder above the rest of the field. By comparison, second-place man Philip McAllister only had 1.32 million chips bagged, while 3rd place finisher Matt Waxman failed to reach the 1 million mark. With all that though, plenty of "name" players did well on Day 3. Jonathan Jaffe made the top 10, together with Jason Mercier and Paul Tedeschi among others.
Some 195 players bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day, and with the money bubble set for 135th place, the stakes were high indeed.

Eventually, the last player to leave the tournament area empty-handed, the official bubble-boy of the event, was Germany's Knut Karnapp, who staked his tournament life onto an As, Qs and got called by Christopher McNamara's A,Ko. The board failed to connect with either hand in any way and Karnapp was done. McNamara played on and he was eventually bounced in 88th place, picking up a $10.8k reward for his efforts.
While scores of pros did indeed make it into the money, many of them fell before the bubble. Olivier Busquet was one of these players, but Samuel Philips, Mukul Pahuja and Jeremy Ausmus were forced to leave empty-handed as well.
On Day 4, the remaining field is scheduled to play down to the final 16.
