Andrew Lichtenberger’s Lifestyle Changes

Anybody who has ever had anything to do with poker and online poker, knows Andrew Lichtenberger as one of the most accomplished pros the game has ever seen. He has countless live tournament deep runs to his name, culminating in a 2009 WSOP Main Event run which landed him in 18th place, giving him a $500k+ reward. As any high-profile professional will tell you though, Lichtenberger too knows that staying at that level and being able to produce results on a consistent basis is by no means child’s play and it requires a positive life philosophy to begin with. High stakes professionals understand the importance of physical and psychological balance in one’s life and Lichtenberger has indeed stayed in touch with his inner self for pretty much his entire career through meditation and through various mental exercises that have kept him from being stuck in the rut of negativity time and time again.

Lichtenberger’s latest lifestyle “stunt” was his acceptance of raw foodism, which is basically about the inclusion of raw, unprocessed, often organic foods into one’s diet.
According to Lance Wong, Lichtenberger’s friend and grinding buddy, the incorporation of raw vegetables, fruits and seeds into the diet of a poker player is essential, because truly active grinders play eight-to-ten hour long sessions every day, a lifestyle which takes a heavy toll on one’s body and health.

According to raw diet specialists, eating raw foods is not about falling back on celery stalks and carrots exclusively. In fact, there are quite a number of gourmet foods which come raw. Basically, everything that one can prepare without any sort of cooking qualifies as part of the raw diet (pre-processed foods excluded, of course). As part of his new lifestyle tweaks, Lichtenberger plans to eat out less and to spend more time in the kitchen, preparing his own food. Whether or not that will make him even more dangerous at the poker table remains to be seen…
