Antonius extends challenge lead over Dwan

Dwan and Antonius managed to keep up their daily challenge schedule, putting in a short 135 hand session on Tuesday morning.
The two managed to pass the 12,000 hand mark, as Antonius finished $23,132 in the black this time. This way, the Finn managed to extend his lead to $84,544 which still cannot be considered a significant advantage though.
The interesting thing is that over the life of the challenge, it was actually Tow Dwan who won more pots, though the average size of his pots was smaller than those that went Antonius’ way. A total of 12,144 pots have been played for in the challenge so far, and out of those 6,416 went Dwan’s way. On the other side of the barricade, Patrik Antonius only took down 5,657 pots, though the average size of his pots has been $2,191 over Dwan’s $1,918. That difference may not seem like much, but over more than 12,000 pots it is definitely a huge tie breaker.

Given the brief nature of this latest session, there was only one pot which reached into six figures.
The action began the usual way: Antonius raised for $1,200, Dwan made it $3,600 and Antonius called. The flop came Kc,10s,4d and all hell broke loose. Dwan opened the action with a $19,200 bet. Antonius was quick to get a $64,800 three bet into the middle to possibly get Dwan all-in and his plan worked marvelously. Dwan shoved all-in for $66,148 and Antonius called the difference.
The Finn then showed Ad,Qs,Jd,8c for an open ended straight draw against Dwan’s Ah,Kh,Js,10d which made two pairs and had a nice gutshot straight redraw in the books as well. In dire need to make up lost ground, Antonius caught a Jh on the turn to fill his straight, while Dwan got stuck with is two pairs when the river came a 3c. The pot was a $139,496 monster and Dwan added another bad beat to his growing list of unlucky hands.

The durrrr challenge takes place at 5 special heads-up “challenge” tables at Full Tilt Poker, which means you can watch the action unfold yourself, if you open a Full Tilt Poker account.
