ANZPT Queensland – David Allan Wins

Sunday was the final day of the ANZPT Queensland Snowfest Main Event. Nine players returned to the tables at the beginning of the day, looking to play right down to a winner, which is exactly what they did.
With everyone set on playing as hard as possible, the first elimination only took 10 minutes to occur. Ken Demlakian was the one responsible for it, his A,K besting David Evans’ pocket Qs after an A fell on the river. Evans picked up NZD$12k for his 9th place finish.
Ivan Zalac started the day as one of the short-stacks too and as such, he was forced to try to get something going early too. He picked up a pair of 5s and he shoved all-in, only to be called by Ricky Kroesen, who had pocket 9s. Needless to say, at the end of the hand, the field found itself yet another player shorter. Bryan Huang was the last surviving
PokerStars pro in the field. He bit the dust in 7th place, picking up NZD$19.1k for his efforts. Allan was the one who put him on his way to the rail, after his pocket Ks blew Huang’s pocket 7s clean off the table.
Matt Wakeman was the next victim. His 6th place was worth NZD$ 23.1k. David Zhao had been quietly bleeding chips at the final table, before deciding to shove his last handful into the middle on pocket 3s. He got a caller in Jordan Westmoreland, who had pocket 10s.
Ricky Kroesen had at one point held the largest stack at the final table. He pushed all-in with an A,10 against Westmoreland’s pocket Qs, and he busted out after he found no help on the board. Westmoreland’s elimination came after a good hour of three-handed back and forth. Demlakian’s measly 7d, 4d was the hand responsible for his demise.
The start of the heads-up action saw Allan gain the upper hand almost immediately. The final hand of the
poker tournament saw Allan’s 10s, 3s best his opponent’s 7,3o for the win and the NZD$110.6k top prize.
