Coming up right after the PCA, the Aussie Millions have long been regarded as one of the start-of-the-year majors, and indeed, the popularity of the Series - traditionally hosted by the Crown Melbourne - has been steadily increasing. Its 2016 edition is expected to generate more interest than ever, so the organizers saw it fit to expand the festival with the addition of 3 more events and by partnering up with poker pro Jason Somerville. Already, scores of professionals have made it clear that they wanted to participate.
Besides local players Joe Hachem and Shane Warne - whose presence is more or less a given every year - Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiari, John Juanda, Erik Seidel and Sam Trickett are also planning to play.
Twitch are getting in on the deal too, looking to offer poker fans world-over a unique and interactive view of the action as it unfolds.

The Aussie Millions kick off on January 13, and the Main Event gets going on January 24. The AU$10.6k for the latter will be back, and the big one will feature no fewer than 3 day 1 flights. Players will start off 30k chip stacks, to diminish the luck factor as much as possible. The main sponsor of the Series will apparently be
PokerStars again, and as such, it will deliver the most online qualifiers to the main Event too. Apparently, there are more than 175 qualifiers already, and the satellites are still running obviously. Everything accounted for, organizers rightfully hope that this will be the biggest Aussie Millions ever. The three new events cover NL Holdem, PLO and NL Holdem Shot Clock, at buy-ins of AU$2.5k-AU$5k.
