Daniel Colman Wins 2014 Big One for One Drop

Day 36 of the 2014 WSOP was a big one indeed: it saw the $1 million Big One for One Drop play down to a winner and that winner almost turned out to be the most popular poker player ever: PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu. Eventually though, Negreanu fell in second place as Daniel Colman took the gold and the $15.3 million top prize.
Colman wasn’t the only bracelet winner of the day though. Event #56, one of the $1k NL Holdem events of the Series, played down to its winner as well. The one who took the gold in this one was Mike Kachan.

Kachan’s share of the prize-pool was a handsome $403.4k. He bested Jeff Blenkarn heads-up for the win, leaving the latter with a $250.8k prize. Matt Salsberg played in the event too, but he faded away in 10th place, bounced by Ray Henson, who was eliminated shortly thereafter.

The highlight of the day was event #57 though, the Big One for One Drop, which saw 9 players return to its tables on its final day. The first victim of the day was Tom Hall, who put his tournament life onto the line in the very first hand of the day, with pocket 10s, losing out to Daniel Negreanu’s A,Qo. Due to the top-heavy nature of the prize-distribution, Hall walked away with nothing to show for his efforts/buy-in. The first player to finish in the money was Paul Newey, whose 8th place was worth $1.41 million, leaving him with a profit of about $410k.
Scott Seiver and Tobias Reinkemeier finished in the money as well. Negreanu’s share of the loot was a handsome $8.28 million.
