Daniel Negreanu Getting Ready for WCOOP

Today, the 10th annual WCOP kicks off, and despite the restrictions brought about by the Black Friday events, most poker pros will be ready to delve into the 62-event online poker extravaganza. Daniel Negreanu was one of the pros who moved out of the US after Black Friday. For Negreanu, who is originally from Canada, the move was quite probably a lot less painful than for many of his peers.
Negreanu’s move didn’t exactly come as a surprise for those who know him. He has been working on improving his online skills for a couple of years now, and in the last few months, he stepped up his efforts. A WCOOP title would certainly come as vindication for the charismatic
PokerStars pro, who has sparkled on countless live poker shows, but who has yet to produce an impressive online poker achievement.
Last year, his improving skills got a good WCOOP test-run: he finished 11th in the $10k 8-game event, barely missing out on the final table.
Alexander Kravchenko was the one who eventually won that event, taking home $345.8k, after surviving a starting field of 133 players.
Negreanu says that he is preparing for the WCOOP by playing some tough $400/$800 Mixed Games online. Time zone is one of the online poker pros’ biggest enemies, but Negreanu said that he would be in Europe for the entire duration of the event, so this year, time zone would not be a problem for him. As far as the grinding station is concerned, Negreanu says he doesn’t need one. He’ll be in Montenegro and in Budapest for the event, and the only problem he’s currently looking at is enough playing time.
Negreanu also said he would be focusing on the $10k 8-game events yet again, as he intends to play both of them. The Canadian obviously considers himself an all-round player, who has little to no weaknesses on any level, hence his 8-game choice.
