Durrrr challenge: Antonius shaves a bit off Dwan’s lead

The $1million durrrr challenge, which was so hyped at the beginning of the year, is almost dead these days. Tied up with the Isildur1 matters (Dwan busy dropping money to the mystery Swede and Antonius busy picking it up) the two protagonists have had little time lately to grind away at Full Tilt Poker’s challenge tables.
Still, a few days ago they finally got together – following nearly 6 week pause – to play an insignificant number of challenge hands again. Sure enough, it only took them 588 hands to become bored with the whole thing yet again and to call it the day, who knows for how long again.

This session saw Patrik Antonius finish with a $68,000 profit, which is rather insignificant in terms of challenge swings. The last online poker challenge session they had had saw Dwan increase his overall lead by $81,000. This one cut that overall lead to $711,556.

Antonius came out on fire and scored a big pot in the very beginning. The money went all-in on a board of Jd, 7s, 3h, Ks, with Antonius holding 10s, 9d, 8h, 4s for a straight and a flush draw. Dwan had Kc, Jh, 10c, 10d for the top two pair. Antonius had tons of outs though and the 8s on the river was one of them. As a result of it, the $143,193 pot landed in his pocket.

Interestingly enough, it was Dwan who controlled this online poker session. He picked up 3 of the 5 largest pots, though Antonius did better in medium size pots, hitting his draws time and time again and causing Dwan all sorts of problems.

A true heartbreaker of a hand came when the two players locked horns over a board of Ad,9c,8s. Dwan had A,A,10,7 for a set and he had a straight draw as well. Antonius had 10,7,6,6 for the same straight draw. The turn brought a 3 giving Antonius some more outs, but the 10c on the river hit him for a straight and the $92,393 pot was shipped his way.
The largest pot of the session clocked in at 155,199, but this one ended up in Dwan’s pocket, after he hit a runner-runner straight. When the challenge action will resume at Full Tilt poker is anyone’s guess, but I say as long as the Isildur1 factor is present, we shouldn’t build up expectations.
