Dwan Drops $900k at Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker’s Viktor Blom has long been considered a
NL Holdem buff and he’s grown into quite a force at the PLO tables as well. Unfortunately, fame didn’t exactly help the Swedish pro get action at the high stakes tables in the above said poker variants, as nobody really wanted any piece of him in those games. Blom has in fact been forced to learn other poker variants to get any sort of action. This week however, he got a welcome opportunity to showcase his skills at the PLO tables again, and what transpired wasn’t particularly encouraging to anyone who’s ever considered taking him on at his favorite games.
On Tuesday, Blom relieved some of Full Tilt Poker’s most successful professionals of a combined $800k, playing PLO, Omaha 8 or better and 2-7 Triple Draw.
While Blom played well throughout the session, he saved the best for last: the biggest pot, which weighed in at a rather jaw-dropping $490k. The victim was Hac Dang, and the hand in question was a perfect hand – a pretty frequent phenomenon in Omaha. When both pocket hands were revealed, both players had boats: Dang 5s full of Qs and Blom Ks full of Qs.
Dang certainly suffered at Blom’s hands, but the biggest loser of the day far surpassed him. Tom Dwan saw action too on Tuesday, although in hind-sight, he probably wished he hadn’t. He dropped no less than $900k. The biggest pot that he lost was a 3-way one, which saw him tangle with Tollerene and Blom. Blom flopped a straight to claim the entire pot.
Tollerene went on to finish as the biggest winner of the day, pocketing a $905k profit on Tuesday alone.
Everything considered, it’s safe to say Blom’s downswing has finally come to an end.
