EPT Barcelona – Day 2 report

400 players bellied up to the tables of the Casino de Barcelona on day 2 of the EPT’s Main Event. By the time the day was called, only 112 were still alive. Bryn Kenney lead the pack with a stack of 693,500 chips, having started off a not exactly impressive 96,400 chip stack.
With not much to lose in the beginning, Kenney adopted a fiercely aggressive style, bullying opponents left and right and generally putting pressure over everyone he came into contact with. Seeing how well this style paid off, he stuck with it for the day. Lady Luck stood firmly by his side as he pulled off one gamble after the other. He didn't shy away from four betting with 6h, 4h and he even eliminated Casey Kastle with 6c, 3c, besting his pocket tens.
Everything accounted for, it’s safe to say that Kenney fully deserved the position in which he found himself at the end of the day. Roman Makhlin finished second in chips, having amassed a stack of 643,000 chips.

Local boy Luis Rufas was the chip leader at the beginning of the day and he used his large stack to his advantage. He finished in 4th place, with a stack of 610,000 chips.

PokerStars’ Leo Fernandez arrived to the casino fashionably late, and after having missed the entire first level of play, he got it all in on his very first hand with pocket kings against Per Linde’s pocket rockets. That move cost him half his stack right away, but he did manage to bounce back later and eventually he survived the day too. Many of the shorter stack players got their stacks into the middle early on, looking for a timely double up and many of them bit the dust as a result. Joao Barbosa was one of these victims. Koen De Visscher was probably the unluckiest player of the day, finishing in 113th, after his pocket queens fell to an opponent's pocket rockets.
