EPT Berlin High Roller – Day 2 Report

45 players returned to the tables of the EPT Berlin High Roller on Friday, looking to play down to the final table. That objective has indeed been accomplished before the final whistle, so only 7 players are currently left in contention. Russia’s Max Lykov - one of the PokerStars pros attending the event – finished with the largest stack. He had 1.68 million chips bagged. He was followed by Martin Kabrhel, who finished the day on a solid stack of 1.64 million chips.
Griffin Benger and Aaron Lim finished 3rd and 4th respectively. The start of the 5th day of action found quite a number of “name” pros still in the field. While many of them did indeed drop out well before the final table was reached, one quick glance at those who made the home dash will reveal that plenty of them survived to day 3.

Bryn Kenney and Daniel Cates were both among the early victims. Marvin Rettenmaier and Mike McDonald joined the growing list of casualties as well. McDonald was bounced by Aaron Lim, after both of them got their chips into the middle on a flop laden with bricks. It turned out that McDonald had indeed made the right move: he had pocket rockets against Lim’s pocket Qs. Lady Luck had the last word in the confrontation though and she decided that a Q was in order on the turn. Paul Volpe and Jake Cody managed to hang on longer, but eventually they too were sent to the sidelines.
With the money bubble looming, Chris Brammer found his short-stack all-in against Aaron Lim. He managed to double up, seemingly earning a ticket to a cash finish, but then the two of them locked horns again and this time Lim disposed of him for good to burst the bubble.
