EPT Berlin Main Event – Day 3 Report

The third day of the
EPT’s Berlin Main Event is in the books and the field has been thinned down to 55. Aku Joentausta started the day with the largest stack, and when the action was called he still had the most chips piled up in front of him. That is not to say his day 3 was without challenges. Throughout the day, Anaras Alekberovas tried to relieve him of his pack-leading duties, but in the end, Alekberovas had only 805k chips to Joentausta’s 1,039,000, enough only for 7th place.
There was only one other player who managed to climb into 6-figure territory chips-wise: he was Emil Ohlsson, whose 1,011,000 chips were enough for second place. Pascal Vos was right there at the top as well, and he too nearly made it past the 1 million chip mark, but eventually he had to settle for 972k.
Davidi Kitai was the one who drew the most attention at the beginning of Day 3 of the
poker tournament. He started as one of the large stacks, but with Lady Luck firmly against him on Day 3, he failed to get anything going. At one point, he picked up pocket Js and he ran them right into an opponent’s pocket Ks. He did in fact end up making the money, but his splash was definitely much smaller than what he would’ve liked it to be: he faded away in 129th place, picking up a €8k reward for his efforts.
With all his misfortune, Kitai was still luckier than 32 of the players who had started the day with him and who were forced to go home empty-handed, having been bounced before the money bubble.
PokerStars’ own Martin Hruby was the official bubble-boy of the tournament.
