Day 1A of the EPT’s Copenhagen stop drew a star-studded field of 225 players, 99 of whom made it though that day’s hostilities and will play again on Day 2. Among the participants were Albert Iversen, Frederik Hostrup and Noah Boeken not to mention Luca Pagano and Arnaud Mattern. All these guys survived to Day 2 and many of them thrived, amassing huge stacks to end Day 1A with.
Albert Iversen was among these highly successful Day 1A players even though the conclusion of the day saw Norway’s Thor Hansen in the lead with a 74,700 big chip-stack.
Allan Baekke finished second with 66k, followed up close by Iversen and Frederik Hostrup. With so many stars in the line-up it was inevitable that some of them fall victim to the attrition. Among the eliminated were: Gino Alaqua, Juha Helpi and Carter Gill.
Day 1B of the
EPT Copenhagen Main Event saw a 236 player field belly up to the tables, which brought the total number of participants to 462.
The prize pool became known too as the game kicked off: over €2.9 million went into the total prize-pool, with the winner being allotted a €878k prize.
One of the Day 1B tables turned out to be particularly nightmarish as Gus Hansen, Annette Obrestad, Michael Tureniec and Bertand “ElkY” Grospellier were all seated at it.
Neither Hansen nor Grospellier or Tureniec survived the day though. As a matter of fact, the sole survivor of the hellish table was Annette Obrestad who eventually finished in the middle of the pack with 28,600 chips.
Italy’s Andrea Benelli was the one who clinched the chip lead, having amassed over 100,000 chips by the day’s end.
Roberto Romanello finished 2nd with 66,200 chips, followed by Ola Brandborn with 64,000 chips.
Vanessa Rousso, Alex Kravchenko and Reuben Peters were all among the survivors too. Gus Hansen, Dario Minieri and Johnny Lodden were among those eliminated, together with Ivan Demidov (2008
WSOP Main Event runner-up), Peter Eastgate (2008 WSOP Main Event winner), Theo Jorgensen, Julian Thew and Stevie Chidwick.
