EPT Copenhagen – Day 1B Report

The second day 1 flight of the
EPT’s Copenhagen Main Event saw 216 players belly up to the tables, far overshadowing the flimsy Day 1A yield of 83 entrants. 7 one-hour levels were crammed into the day, at the end of which Mads Wissing emerged with the chip lead. Determining who the eventual chip leader would be was quite a daunting task through the day as several players kept hovering around the top of the pops, passing the lead to and fro among them. On Day 1A, that same task was much easier: Steve O’Dwyer never really let any doubt seep into the question as he held a massive lead almost from the get-go, finishing with a stack of 190.9k chips.
Mads Wissing wasn’t quite as successful in blowing away the opposition and he finished with 127k chips.
Team
PokerStars Pro was yet again represented by a massive and respectable contingent. PokerStars’ in-house players seemed to do extremely well in the event. Johnny Lodden finished the day with a respectable stack of 77.4k. Luca Pagano made the cut too, albeit on a much smaller stack of 44.2k chips. Theo Jorgensen was another PokerStars survivor. He accumulated 55k chips. Martin Staszko made it past the Day 1B hurdle too, together with Mickey Petersen of the online PokerStars team.
Jude Ainsworth was one of the unfortunate “name” victims. He was joined at the rail by some notorious company: Viktor Blom failed to sail past the Day 1B hurdle too.
Blom’s elimination wasn’t a particularly late one either. He was bounced around halfway through the day, when he ran top pair, top kicker into an opponent’s rivered straight. Ainsworth on the other hand, almost made it to the end of the day. His final hand saw him push all-in with A,Q on a board of 8,3,A,4,3 only to be called by Adam Eliasson, who had pocket 8s for the set.
