EPT Copenhagen – Day 2 report

The 262 players who returned to the Scandinavian Ballroom of the Radisson Blu Hotel were indeed ready for action. Barely did day 2 of the EPT Copenhagen stop get rolling they were all over each-other’s throats. Obviously, they all wanted to be among those who would have a reason to return on day 3 too, but that only proved to be possible for 73 of them. Michael Tureniec finished the day with the largest stack.
Hot on his heels were a whole bunch of other “name” pros. Per Linde was second on a stack of 514k chips. Joel Nordquist and JP Kelly followed, just under the half million chip mark. Kelly was not the only PokerStars pro to make it through day 2. Florian Langmann and Johnny Lodden also achieved the same feat.
Most of the players who had done well on Day 1B managed to survive as well. Domantas Klimciauskas may have lost the pole position, but his 212k stack offered him passage to day 3. Michael Aron finished the day on a comparable stack too. Ramzi Jelassi, who had built his large stack at Viktor Blom’s expense on day 1B squandered his chips though, and he slowly but surely faded away to be bounced towards the end of the day.
A similar fate befell Peter Eastgate too, who shoved the last of his chips into the middle on pocket Qs on a board of 8,5,2. Little did he know that Aron had him beat by then, holding pocket 5s for the flopped set. The 3 and the J which fell on the turn and the river respectively, failed to throw him a life-line.

Joining the victims on the rail were Annette Obrestad, Ville Wahlbeck and Scott Montgomery. With the money bubble set for 65th place, Day 3 will certainly see it burst. 9 of the 73 survivors will still walk away empty-handed.
