Day 2 of the EPT’s Deauville Main Event saw the returning players trying to battle their way up the ranks. No longer concerned with mere survival, players tossed their chips around in an attempt to get something going. A whole bunch of casualties resulted from this type of approach: 546 players returned to action at the beginning of the day. Of these guys, only 178 were still standing when the action was called. Martins Adeniya clinched the chip lead, having built up a stack of 512k chips. Adeniya flew right out of the gates as the day kicked off and he never relented. He took the lead when he got rid of Philipe Ma after a masterful 1-2 punch. In the first of the 2 hands which lead to Ma’s demise, Adeniya successfully busted a bluff. The move ended up costing Ma the majority of his chips, so he shoved all-in shortly after and Adeniya made a boat to send him packing.
After sitting in the top spot for a while, Adeniya dropped some chips letting the lead slip away. During the last level, he came alive again. He took down a 100k chip pot busting an opponent with pocket 10s against pocket 9s.
Other players who did well on Day 2 were Brahim Oubella (who finished second with a stack of 452k chips), local player Ludovic Lacay (377k chips) and Julien Ehrhardt (363k chips).
Another player who survived the day on a healthy stack was Luca Pagano. Pagano is currently the only

Amir Salhani, the start of the day chip leader had a pretty rough ride. He may have started in pole position but his stack did little to help him make any headway on day 2: he busted out during the 4th level. Arnaud Mattern and Kevin MacPhee were also among the eliminated.
