EPT London High Roller – Day 2 Report
Posted by: James Carter. - Fri, 2011-10-07 06:43
Just as the Main Event did on its 5th day, the PokerStars
EPT’s London High Roller event managed to play down to its final table. 8 players remained, all of whom are now in the money, guaranteed a nice slice of the pie.
Igor Kurganov was the one who clinched the chip lead at the end of the day, having amassed a stack of 854k chips. Second-place man Robert Akery has a stack of 622k chips.
30 players returned to action at the beginning of the second day, among them Team
PokerStars Pro members Joe Hachem, Eugene Katchalov and Jonathan Duhamel. None of these guys managed to make the final table though. Hachem fell victim to Michael Tureniec, when he got his last chips into the middle on a pair of deuces. Tureniec had Ah, 6h and he obviously won the coin-flip.
Duhamel was bounced by Adrian Bussman. Andrey Bondar was the one responsible for Eugene Katchalov’s elimination.
Katchalov had pocket 9s when he shoved all-in on the turn of an 8,7,3,6 board. Unfortunately for him, Bondar had 8,6 for the turned two pair and his hand held.
Sam Stein was the one who began the day in the lead, but he got unlucky. First, he dropped a massive pot to Byron Kaverman, who made a flush against his pocket 3s.
His last hand saw him put everything into the middle on an As,10s he’d picked up. The flop read A,Q,9 and Olivier Busquet made the call with K,Q and a second pair. A Q landed on the turn though, sealing Stein’s tournament fate.
Isaac Haxton was eliminated as well. The list of victims included James Bord, Phil Collins, Mike MacDonald and Mike Watson too.
Kaverman was eliminated in 10th place, and James Bord’s elimination in 9th set the official 8-handed final table.
Michael Tureniec will start the final table as the short-stack.
