The second day of the
EPT’s London Main Event made the numbers-game behind the poker tournament clear: a total of 604 players registered and bought in, creating a prize-pool of £2.92 million. What this basically means is that the money bubble is set of 88th place and that min-cash will be a little over £9k. The winner’s share of the action will be a massive £560.9k.
107 players survived the second day of action, finishing with the money-bubble well in sight. The one to have the largest stack bagged was Tudor Purice, who finished with 628.2k chips to his name. Ludovic Geilich had a good day too: he finished with 436k. Mark Newhouse, of November Nine fame, and Andy Moseley finished with large stacks as well.
Purice, the chip leader, had a superb run, which included the elimination of Mike McDonald among other heroics. In the last level of the night, Purice won a classic coinp-flip with A,K against an opponent’s pocket Qs to seal his dominating Day 2 performance.
Ludivic Geilich, the current runner-up, had a much tougher up and down finish to his day, but he got lucky during the last level. He had made a Broadway straight on the river, and sneakily, he checked, prompting Patric Laudam to push all-in, walking straight into the trap he’d sprung. He immediately called and picked up a massive pot to add to his stack.
Dan Smith was among the survivors as well, together with Shannon Shorr and Paul Volpe. The start of the day chip leader, Dhru Patel, survived too.
PokerStars’ Barry Greenstein, Theo Jorgensen and Henrique Pinto have had their Day 3 tickets punched too.
Of course, there were plenty of “name” casualties: Daniel Negreanu was among them, together with Jason Mercier and Sam Trickett.
There’s no better way to secure a seat in one of the EPT’s Main Events than through PokerStars' online satellites.
