The £50k Super High Roller of the
EPT’s Season 10 London stop saw its second day of action go into the books on Saturday. At the beginning of the first day, 38 players had bellied up to the tables of the poker tournament and 32 of them made it through the first hurdle, firing one or multiple bullets. With registration open till the beginning of Day 2, several players chose to only enter then.
Full Tilt Poker’s Viktor Blom was one of the players who saved their first bullet for Day 2. Dhruvin Patel and Patrik Antonius did the same.
Philipp Gruissem, who had been bounced a number of times on Day 1, chose to re-buy yet again, thus putting a mind-boggling four buy-ins totaling £200k into the middle. Erik Seidel decided to re-buy as well.
Unlike Day 1, Day 2 began with a whole bunch of players biting the dust left and right, and with no re-buy option available this time, those who busted remained on the sidelines for good. Igor Kurganov was among those sent packing, together with Max Altergott,
PokerStars pro Jason Mercier, Philipp Gruissem (whose 4th bullet fell short too) and Jonathan Duhamel.
Gruissem’s 4th bust occurred in a three-way hand, which saw him put all his chips into the middle with an A,Ko against Patrik Antonius’ A,Ko and Talal Shakerchi’s pocket rockets. Shakerchi scooped up the pot, eliminating Gruissem and sending Antonius to the brink of elimination as well.
Johannes Strassmann then administered a nasty bad beat to Erik Seidel, at the end of which Seidel found himself on the rail too. He was soon joined by Fabian Quoss, Rick Solomon, Shakerchi (who couldn’t put the chips picked up from Gruissem and Antonius to good use), Sam Trickett and Shawn Buchanan.
Daniel Negreanu, Ole Schemion and Steve O’Dwyer were eliminated too as Martin Finger clinched the chip lead.
