130 players returned to action on the third day of the
EPT’s Monte Carlo Grand Final. The day was mostly about the bursting of the money bubble. Set for 96th place, the early action was a tight mess as players tried to hang on to crawl into the money. Adam Levy was the last player to leave the event without a single penny to show for his efforts. He busted out in 98th place, followed by Martin Finger and Andrew Badecker, who bit the proverbial dust in the same hand and thus got to split the min cash, picking up €7.5k each.
Geert Jan-Potijk was the one who ended up in possession of the largest stack at the end of the day: he amassed 1.32 million chips.
Team
PokerStars Pro enjoyed a massive representation at the beginning of the day, and no fewer than 6 of its members made the money. Unfortunately for them though, none of them managed to survive the day. Angel Guillen , Sandra Naujoks, Richard Toth and Max Martinez were all eliminated past the bubble.
Matthias De Meulder busted out as well, on a pretty nasty bad beat no less. He got his chips into the middle on a pair of Qs and got called by Jason Wheeler who had pocket Js. Although things looked good for De Meulder, a J on the flop said otherwise and he joined his Team PokerStars Pro brethren on the rail.
Several other ‘name’ players made the money but fell short of advancing to the final stretch: Erik Seidel, Guillaume Darcourt and Bryan Piccioli all failed to make the cut.
Justin Bonomo had a nice Day 3 and he made it pretty deep in the event, but he eventually ran his stack ashore in 28th place. Bonomo’s elimination came in a 3-way hand in which Geert Jan-Potijk got the better of him and Andre Pantling.
