EPT San Remo – Day 4 Report

The 3rd day of the
EPT San Remo Main Event was an extremely short one. It took the 60 survivors only four and a half levels to play down to the last 3 tables. Nicolas Yunis clinched the chip lead at the end of the day. Yunis, a PokerStars regular, found himself in a truly favorable position as the action kicked off: he was one of two large stacks at a table where several short-stacks fought for their tournament lives. He bullied those short-stacks around skillfully and having position on the other big-stack, he managed to handle that problem well too. At the end of the day, his was the only stack over the 2 million chip mark.
Of the “name” players,
PokerStars’ Joe Cada and Max Lykov have had pretty good day 3 runs too. They both finished with healthy stacks of 1.6 and 1.7 million chips respectively.
Max Heinzelmann also remained in contention, enduring a rollercoaster-ride of a day, as he plummeted to short stack status only to rise back up several times.
The day kicked off with a flurry of eliminations as many of the well-known pros fell to the early onslaught. EPT London winner David Vamplew found the path to the rail early on when his A,Jo fell to Freddy Darakjian’s pocket 7s. Richard Toth then picked up a pair of 9s and pushed all-in on them, only to see Georgios Manousos’ table pocket rockets. The board brought no relief for the PokerStars pro and he too was eliminated.
Ludovic Lacay figured it’d be a great idea to shove all-in with his 5,6 on a board of Q,5,6. Roberto Spada made the call indeed with pocket Ks and bounced Lacay when two 4s fell on the turn and the river.
That hand gave Spada the lead, but he slipped a couple of times before the action was called.
Antonio Russo was the last one to fall on Day 4, setting up the final three tables, which will play down to the final table on day 5.
