EPT Snowfest – Day 4 report

With the field down to 24, the 4th day of the EPT Snowfest Main Event would be about the battle for the final table. Allan Baekke continued to be “in the zone” for day 4 too. He never gave up the chip lead he started the day with, and when the final table was set 7 hours later, he still had the largest stack of chips towering in front of him.
At the start of the day, Baekke took up right where he’d left off on Day 3: dominating. Soon after the kick-off, Baekke found himself in a preflop re-raising war against Nasr El Nasr. Fairly confident in the strength of his Ad,Kd, Baekke went with it and sure enough, gave his stack another huge boost when Nasr’s Ac,7c proved to be no match for his hand. He did have his downs too though. His pocket rockets cracked by an opponent’s pocket 4s, his stride was broken a little, but he bounced right back, and hit Marcel Koller badly, making a nut straight against him on the turn.

Another player who had a great time at the tables on day 4 was Russel Carson. He had a little under half a million chips at the beginning of the day, but by the end of it, he had around 3.5 million, and a ticket secured to the final table action of day 5.
Carson first took on Jim Collopy, on an A,A vs A,K match-up. Carson’s rockets held fast and he gave his stack a huge early boost. A few hands later, he was in the heat of the action again, this time with A,K against Brent Wheeler’s pocket Qs. The coin-flip went his way as he caught an A on the flop, and his stack grew bigger still. With around 1.7 million chips in front of him, he felt confident enough to tackle Maxim Lykov next.
Carson picked up pocket 7s and decided to shove all-in against Lykv on a flop of 10,2,7. Lykov had Q,10, and failed to improve on the turn and the river, to bow out of the poker tournament short of the final table.

Brent Wheeler made it to the final table too, and so did PokerStars’ Johannes Strassmann. Richard Toth, Jim Collopy and Nasr El Nasr were all eliminated.
