EPT Tallinn – Day 3 Report

63 players returned to action on Day 3 of the
EPT Tallinn stop. At the end of the day, which was comprised of 5 blind levels, only 24 players were still in contention for the €275k top prize. Ronny Kaiser was the one who finished the day with the largest stack of chips.
Kaiser played well all day, taking down one huge pot after the other. Arguably the most important pot he played for all day was the monster one he took down from Liutauras Armanavicius during level 18. Kaiser was the one who initiated the preflop action, to be called by Jani Sointula and to be raised by Armanavicius. Sointula got out of the way when Kaiser re-raised it and Armanavicius shoved all-in in response. The two players revealed their pocket hands: Kaiser had pocket Js against Armanavicius’ pocket rockets.
Armanavicius was the obvious favorite in this one, but Lady Luck had other ideas in store: the board fell 8,10,8,9,Q, giving Kaiser a runner-runner straight and bouncing Armanavicius from the table.
The money bubble was the major milestone that the field aimed to reach on Friday. With only 40 players getting paid in the event, the battle on the bubble was a truly epic one: no fewer than 3 all-ins happened before the bubble boy was finally decided: Eric Friedmann picked up the dubious honors, Stefan Jedlicka responsible for his demise.
Friedmann pushed all-in preflop, holding A,Ko and Jedlicka made the call holding pocket Js. The board brought a bunch of blanks and the money bubble burst.
While Ronny Kaiser’s 1.1 million stack was without an equal indeed, several other players finished the day on healthy stacks. Grzegorz Cichocki ended up with a stack of 867k. Vojtech Ruzicha, Sami Kelopuro and Johan Van Til all finished with more than 500k too.
PokerStars’ Arnaud Mattern failed to survive the day. Online qualifiers Stuart Fox and Michael Graydon did make the cut though.
