EPT Vilamoura – day 4 report

The 4th day of the
PokerStars EPT’s Vilamoura Main Event was one dominated by the British contingent. 24 players returned to action to the Casino Vilamoura, and almost all the British players survived to the 8-handed final table, through 4 grueling levels of play. Carolyn Gray was the only one who didn’t make the cut: her A,Q ran into an opponent’s pocket Ks to bust her out short of the final table.
Other than that, Sam Trickett and Teddy Sheringham both survived, not to mention Toby Lewis who did much more than that: he clinched the chip lead.
The action got off to a fast start, despite the slow structure, and the first victim bit the dust in earnest. Grzegorz Cichocki was the one who fell by the side first, courtesy of Sam Trickett, whose ascent to the top of the chip leader board began right there and then.
All of the Brits swung into action soon, as Teddy Sheringham took out Nicolo Calia and Toby Lewis disposed of Dmitry Gromov.
Marton Czuczor was the next victim. He looked like he was a serious candidate for the final table for a while there, but eventually he faded away and he was eliminated in 11th by Trickett.
Fabrizio Ascari was eliminated in 10th and the final table bubble was in sight. The bubble boy’s elimination wasn’t exactly a spectacular feat: Erik Van den Berg was forced to shove all-in by the circumstances and when he did, he did it holding 9,6o. Lewis called with K,7 and the K-high was enough to send Van den Berg packing, ending the day.
Sergio Coutinho, Rob Hollink, Martin Jacobson, Frederik Jensen and Jason Lee were the other players to make the final table.
