Esfandiari and Hellmuth Confirmed for Premier League VI

PartyPoker have recently made the announcement that poker pros Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari have confirmed their participation in the PartyPoker.com Premier League Poker VI, a $125k buy-in event, which will take place in London next month. The two have apparently decided to include the Premier League stop into a European swing, which will also see them play in the WPT’s Venice Main Event.
Hellmuth has actually been quite the regular in various Premier League editions in the past, but he missed last year’s event. Esfandiari on the other hand, has never taken part in any of the PartyPoker sponsored PL events thus far. The presence of the two players in the PL lineup adds quite a bit of spice to the action, given their past history of bickering. Esfandiari seems to take pleasure in taunting and provoking the Poker Brat, seizing every opportunity in this respect.
Hellmuth and Esfandiari won’t be the only high profile notables taking part in the event.
PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu will also play, as will Scott Seiver. Seiver was the one who won the last edition of the
poker tournament, taking down the $500k top prize. The winner of this year’s event will pocket a similarly impressive reward, in addition to which, he will also secure a $25k entry into the WPT’s World Championship event at the Bellagio.
The Premier League will see 16 players take part. There will be 4 group matches for each player, which will determine the final table. The event kicks off on March 17 and wraps up on March 23.
In other news: New Jersey lawmakers are wasting no time in putting the conditionally vetoed online poker bill back onto Gov. Chris Christie’s desk: they’re set to vote on the changes on February 26.
