On Saturday, the $100k Challenge of the 2016 Aussie Millions wrapped up, following a 4-day hiatus, which was instituted to allow players to take part in the Main Event. The one who walked away with the top prize and the bragging rights was poker pro Fabian Quoss. The final day saw 6 players of the original 41 return to action. Of the AUD 4 million+ prize-pool, Quoss pocketed some AUD 1.44 million. The win marked Quoss' second biggest live tournament success, after his 2014 win in the PCA's $100k Super High Roller.
Quoss kicked off the final day of action on the right foot: he doubled up at the expense of Connor Drinan on the very first hand of the day. The first victim of the final table was Germany's Fedor Holz, who was bounced by Drinan and who picked up AUD 281k for his efforts.

Canada's Sam Greenwood was eliminated in 5th place, also a victim of Connor Drinan's resurgence. Greenwood's share of the loot was AUD 321.4k. Despite the fact that he was the one responsible for the first two eliminations of the final table, Drinan's magic simply didn't work against Quoss. Having doubled him up in the very first hand, he fell to the German in 4th place, picking up AUD 441.9k. At this point, there were only high-profile pros left in contention:
PokerStars' Jason Mercier, Ben Tollerene and Fabian Quoss. Mercier was the first of the three to fall, his 3rd place worth some AUD 602.7k. Tollerene then bit the dust in second place, after his J,10 fell to Quoss' K,J. His reward was a AUD 924k haul.
