FairPlayUSA - Proof that Vegas Wants Legal Online Poker

Poker players nation-wide have long doubted the intentions of Las Vegas based mega brick and mortar gambling operations’ true intentions when it came to online poker and online gambling. It has long been believed that legal
online poker would only become reality when the Vegas-based interests threw their full support behind a viable legal initiative. Those circumstances all seem to be in place now. While there are certainly a few out-of-tune brick and mortar corporations which voice opposition to legal online poker, the majority of the Strip is on the bandwagon this time, and one doesn’t need to look further than FairPlayUSA for proof.
FairPlayUSA was founded about 6 months ago by the above said brick and mortar casino operators, and although it has thus far seemed suspiciously quiet, the organization has apparently been quite busy behind the scenes, educating the public and building up the case for federally regulated online poker and gambling.
The organization has apparently prepared a petition to Congress, as part of its grassroots campaign, signatures for which are still being collected. FairPlayUSA aren’t currently revealing the exact number of signatures they’re aiming for, before they submit the petition to Congress, on account of the fact that they want a really big bang in the press when the numbers are finally revealed.
FairPlayUSA do have a Facebook page on which there are around 5.6k likes right now, a possibly indication of how many signatures one could expect on their petition. Overall, that total isn’t particularly impressive, as the PPA’s We The People petition garnered a lot more signatures than that.
FairPlayUSA advisory board members have testified in various Congressional hearings and their board of advisors is quite an impressive collection of experts, including former FBI agent Jack Garcia, former FBI Director Louis Freeh and former WSOP Main Event Champion and
PokerStars pro Greg Raymer. Whether or not FairPlayUSA’s results thus far live up to the expectations of its funders is anyone’s guess. The fact however that it represents the Vegas Casinos’ willingness to put their monies where their true intentions are, appears written in stone.
