The $500+$35 H.O.R.S.E. event of the 11th edition of the
Full Tilt Online Poker Series guaranteed a prize-pool of $300,000. Compared to the other events, the H.O.R.S.E. one saw a much reduced number of registrants. The 703 players who bellied up to the virtual tables though were more than enough to make the guarantee and even to surpass it by a healthy margin. The prize-pool eventually grew to $351,500.
Better known players who made it close to the final table were: Alan Engel (who finished 11th), Eugene Katchalov (10th) and Gary Bogdanski (13th).
The eight players who made it to the final table were: Gerald Ringe, Casey Jarzabek, destiny7, chiupilu, LTBGGTBL, JP Kelly, KipsterDK and Stephen Devlin.
LTBGGTBL was the final table chip leader with 583,757 chips. The short-stack was KipsterDK with 48,175.
As expected, the short-stacked KipsterDK was the first player to leave the final table. His demise came in a Razz hand, in which he went up against Gerald Ringe who made a 8,4,3,2,A against his 8,7,6,5,3.
Chiupilu busted out next, in a Stud Hi hand, bounced by destiny7.
Initial deep-stack LTBGGTBL became the third victim of the final table. At the 30,000/60,000 level, he shoved all-in on the turn against Gerald Ringe’s two pairs (Js and 8s). Way behind with his pair of Ks, LTBGGTBL failed to receive any help from the river and busted out in 6th.
Casey Jarzabek took out both JP Kelly and Stephen Devlin in one of the following hands. He got them all-in on a Holdem hand and hit a set of 6s with an A kicker on the flop. The two bricks which came on the river failed to improve either hand, and thus Jarzabek made a huge addition to his stack.
Destiny 7 held on to his short-stack for a while, but was eventually compelled to make a move against Jarzabek on a Razz hand. The move didn’t pay off as his low fell to Jarzabek’s and he was sent to the rail in 3rd.
The heads-up play between Gerald Ringe and Jarzabek culminated in a Stud Hi hand in which the latter made an A-high flush to send the former packing and to win the $75,572 prize.
