FTOPS XXII – Day 12 Report

The 12th day of
Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS XXII featured only two events and consequently, it crowned only two winners too.
The first event of the day was the $216
NL Holdem one (#30) which offered a pretty attractive guarantee of $100k. A total of 560 players decided to cough up the buy-in for this one, generating a prize-pool of $112k, thus comfortably covering the guarantee.
The winner of the event was Chris Back, who walked away with the top prize of $23.8k, after no deals were made at the top. Back defeated a player known by the online moniker “3p3nipa”, who collected $16.2k for his/her efforts. Another player managed to crawl past the 5-figure threshold: 3rd place man RymerWOrange collected $12.3k.
Apparently, there were very few notables playing in the
poker tournament, or they were simply not successful enough this time: the deepest finishing “name” player was Matt Stout, whose 24th place was worth $560.
The second event of the day was event #31, the $216 HORSE one, which offered a guarantee of $60k. Unlike most of the FTOPS XXII events thus far, event #31 failed to cover its guarantee, so the 264 participants had to do battle for a share of the $60k initial guarantee.
“name” players were plentiful in this event, in fact, the winner was none other than Bolivar Palacios. Palacios made no deals on his way to the top, which meant that he collected $15.9k. The runner-up was f3nix35, whose efforts were rewarded with $10.5k. None of the other players managed to cross the $10k mark. John Leathart finished 5th in the event for $3k, while David Emmons barely made the top 10, collecting $1.1k for his 9th place.
Chris Back, the winner of the previous event, finished 10th for $810.
