FTP Montreal Main Event – Final Table Reached

The 4th day of
Full Tilt Poker’s Montreal Main Event saw 25 players return to action with the goal of playing down to the final table. A total of 6 levels went into the day, before the final table was reached. Start of the day chip leader Vinny Pahuja took advantage of his large stack to maintain his position: he finished with 10.9 million chips, quite a bit more than second place man Eric Despres, who had 7.9 million bagged.
Pahuja is therefore indeed best positioned for a title run, and his victory wouldn’t come as a surprise either: he has more than $1.5 million in tournament winnings already, even though his last win came about this time last year, at the WPT Borgata Open, in one of the side events.
Among the early victims of Day 4 was Michael Tremblay, who was one of the 10 players who bit the dust during the first two levels of the day. Tremblay’s case was an interesting one, because he was one of the online qualifiers from
PokerStars, who managed to parlay his C$11 satellite buy-in into a C$8.3k prize.
Other players who were eliminated were Jonathan Bussiere Busses (19th place), Dawn Mootrey, Kevin Dawe, Maxim Laberge and Eric Larose.
The one personally responsible for the setting of the unofficial final table was Bill Kontaratos, who bounced two players in quick succession to reach the bubble. Jeff Cotte and Terrance Eishens were his two victims. Once they were eliminated, the bubble only took two more hands to burst. Kontaratos was the fuse in that pot as well, but he got out of the way once Jeremie Trepanier and Eric Despres made it clear they were going all the way. Trepanier had an A,Qo against Despres’ Ah, Kh as the board fell all blanks.
