Full Tilt Poker US Players Funds Remission Update
Posted by: Jo Martin - Mon, 2013-08-19 10:33
Under their new management, Full Tilt Poker have swiftly repaid their non-US players in order to be able to re-launch as soon as possible in various markets world-over. The fact that they would not be allowed back into the US for the foreseeable future however, meant that the repayment of
Full Tilt Poker’s US players who were left with funds in their accounts after Black Friday wouldn’t be made in such a rush.
PokerStars have promptly forfeited $547 million to US authorities, funds meant to be used for remissions, but it appears nobody is in a particular hurry to get that money back to those who should rightfully have it.
A Claims Administrator has been appointed quite a while ago: the Garden City Group, but the updates regarding the actual remission process have been few and far between.
The GCG issued an update on August 1, and finally, on August 16, it followed it up with another one. According to this latest update, on September 16, 2013, the Claims Administrator will start sending out emails to those identified as eligible claimants according to Full Tilt’s records, containing instructions on how to fill out their Petitions for Remission and how to submit them online.
There’s already a deadline in place in regards to the submission of the above said petition, and it’s been set to November 15, 2013.
There’s been a special website set up for those with money in limbo and interested in the latest developments in the remission process.
The bottom line is that things appear to be well on track this time around and that US players may indeed finally get their hands on their own funds. The only question is: will those submitting the Petitions for Remission be considered to have been in contempt of US law at one point?
