Full Tilt Poker’s License Suspended by the AGCC

Operation “Shock and Awe” against online poker and online poker interests world-over seems to be in full swing still. Ever newer and ever more shocking means are found to surprise industry members and poker players alike.
On Wednesday morning, games on Full Tilt Poker have come to a sudden halt, as action at the site – still one of the World’s most popular – ground to a standstill. The reason behind the move is an apparently simple one. The AGCC (Alderney Gaming Control Commission) has apparently suspended the poker room’s license, ordering it to cease its activities with immediate effect.
The AGCC released a statement regarding its move, in which it made clear that it had issued Hearing Notices under its Regulation 46, to Filco Ltd, Oxalic Ltd, Vantage Ltd and Orinic Ltd, collectively known as
Full Tilt Poker.
It had also issued Suspension Notices under its Regulation 47 against to the above named entities.
According to the AGCC, the suspension and hearing notices were the results of an investigation which the commission had launched in the wake of the indictments handed out by the US Attorney General’s Office on April 15 against some of the Full Tilt Poker officials. In light of those indictments, the commission’s investigation concluded that the above named companies were operating in breach of Alderney law, therefore their licenses had been revoked.
The date of the hearings has apparently been set to July 26.
Until the suspensions are cancelled or until the Commission hearing reaches a definitive conclusion, Full Tilt Poker will be barred from:
- Accepting new player deposits (even from their existing players)
- Accepting new players
- Allowing their existing customers to engage in poker games or gambling of any nature.
- Allowing existing customers to withdraw money from their Full Tilt Poker accounts.
This decision would effectively put Full Tilt Poker out of business for more than a month in the best case and it will definitely create more hysteria among those who have significant funds locked in their Full Tilt poker accounts.
So far there has been no word from Full Tilt Poker regarding the matter, although we’re fairly sure that those in charge are already busy looking for a quick way out of this new predicament.
