On Christmas Day, Gus Hansen ended up being one of the most generous gift suppliers at
Full Tilt Poker. He lost several huge pots to his opponents, and ended the day with a huge deficit, having made several of his Christmas Day opponents very happy.
One such pot was the $225,000 one that he lost to a player nicknamed Ziigmund. At a $500/$1,000 Omaha table, Ziigmund raised Hansen $2,500 to kick the hand off. Hansen was quick to re-raise him to $8,000, in an attempt to intimidate in the defense of his Big Blind. Ziigmund called and the flop fell Ts,7h,9c. Hansen kept the pressure up by betting $11,000 which got a quick call by Ziigmund. The turn came a 2d and Hansen fired out a $40,000 bet yet again. Ziigmund raised him $106,982, getting Hansen all-in. The river fell a 5h as Ziigmund tabled two pairs (10s and 7s) vs Hansen’s two pair (10s and deuces) for the win and the $225, 989 pot.
Later in the day, Hansen dropped a couple of other massive pots while playing Omaha against durrrr, Ivey and OMGClayAiken.
The hand saw Hansen go heads-up against durrrr as all the other players were quick to bail out preflop. Hansen raised to $2,500 and durrrr re-raised him to $8,000. Hansen re-raised that to $24,000 and durrrr made the call.
The flop fell: Ah,7c,2s, prompting Hansen to fire out a $28,000 bet. Durrrr quickly raised that to $138,000 getting Hansen all-in yet again.
Hansen turned over Jd,Qc,As,9s against durrrr’s 3c,4s,5c,6s. The turn fell 4c and the river a 4h to give durrrr the nut straight, giving him the entire pot of $236,000.
Christmas Day just wasn’t Hansen’s day, or maybe he had willingly taken on the role of Chris Kringle as it only took another hour and a half for him to dispense yet another generous gift to those at his table. This time, it was Patrik Antonius who got the better of him on a hand which resulted in a $249,000 pot.
On a board of Ac,2s,3s,2c,4h, Hansen had a Kh,Kd,As,8d against Antonius’ Ts,As,Jd,Ad.
