Full Tilt’s $1 Million Monday finds winner in Matt Shepsky

Matt Shepsky definitely didn’t start the final table of the $1 Million Monday at Full Tilt Poker as a favorite, but someone apparently forgot to tell him that.
When it was all said and done, it was him who took down the first prize of the last $1 Million Monday before the start of the WSOP, having bested a field of 341 players. He took down $85,250, well enough for a WSOP side event buy-in or two and even for a Big Dance entry.

Notable players who failed to make the final table were Stephen Chidwick, who busted out in 21st for $1,875.50 and Rafal Michalowski, who finished 12th for $4,262.50.
Matt Shepsky, known online as shep2k started the final table with 147,512 chips, just ahead of J Clhampion but behind everyone else.
Player Alexmich was the first one to exit from the final table, eliminated by Karl Fenton, on a K,2 vs J,9d match-up.
J Clhampion, the shortstack busted next, at the hands of Matt Shepsky, whose A,K caught a K on the flop to best J Clhampion’s pocket jacks.

DJflunk was the next to put his tournament life on the line with A,Qo. He got called by Kismatwala03197, who had As,7s and proceeded to hit the nut flush on the river o send djflunk to the rail in 7th.
Jgmrt3 was the next to exit, as his J,2 fell to Greg Howard’s 7,7 on a board full of bricks.

Howard wouldn’t celebrate his deed for long though as he became the next player to bust out. Keven Stammen was the culprit in this elimination as his 9,9 got the better of Howard’s 10c, Jc.
Following the trend, Stammen headed to the rail himself only three hands later. Matt Shepsky took care of him hitting four 8s on the river on a hand in which Stammen didn’t show his cards.

Karl Fenton fell in third place, when his Kd, 9d ran into Shepsky’s pocket Jacks which held up. The final hand of the day between Kismatwala03197 and Shepsky saw the latter shove all-in on Ac, 10c against Kismatwala03197’s pocket 10s. The river didn’t change a thing but the turn brought an A to give Shepsky the lead for good. The 6 on the river failed to turn things around and Shepsky scored the win for the $85,250 prize.
