GPI Rankings Update

The GPI is keeping its eyes on the tournament scene and since Daniel Negreanu is the hottest
poker tournament commodity right now, he’s seen a rather spectacular rise through the ranks this week. He still hasn’t managed to break into the top 10 though. Marvin Rettenmaier – who has been sitting comfortably at the top of the pops for the last few weeks – is still the one in the lead. Rettenmaier has 3,173.5 GPI tournament points to his name, apparently well enough to allow him to hang on. Michael Watson is second with 3,045.69 points.
Phillipp Gruissem is still third and
PokerStars pro Bertrand Grospellier has managed to hold on to his 4th place as well.
Really, the only interesting move within the top 10 was Ole Schemion’s jump into the top tier, as a direct result of his Lebanese Poker Tour Championship event win, an accomplishment which landed him a prize of $201.2k. Michael Mizrachi fell the most within the top 10, dropping from 7th place right into 10th. Other players who dropped were David Sands and Bryn Kenney.
Outside the top 10, there were plenty of movers and shakers yet again though. Benny Spindler was one of the 11 new entries: he landed straight in 204th place.
Daniel Neilson was a new entry as well, together with Paul Testud and Jacob Bazeley.
Kevin Saul made his way into the top 300 as well.
Maria Ho on the other hand dropped outside the top 300, together with JC Alvarado and Bandon Cantu.
The biggest gainer of the week was Jeff Lisandro who climbed an impressive 119 positions. Aaron Lim moved upwards nicely too: he climbed 110 places.
Antonio Esfandiari and Daniel Negreanu were among the biggest climbers as well. Negreanu climbed 73 places, while the Magician had to settle for 31.
