High stakes online poker action: Tom Dwan not doing so well?

Member of Full Tilt Poker’s team of professionals, Tom Dwan is fast becoming a household name for poker-loving people all over the world, on account of his recent live tournament successes.
While the live circuit seems to treat him well, he has always been an avid online player, and he doesn’t seem to be doing so well at the virtual green felt lately.

Apparently, high stakes heads-up action has cost the young pro no less than $235,000 over the course of a single session at Full Tilt Poker.
Playing against LarsLuzak, at a $500/$1,000 Holdem table, Dwan dropped three huge pots of over $65,000 each.

The session took place on November 29th 2008. Here’s a sample hand of the action: (Full Tilt Poker, $500/$1,000 NL Holdem table, LarsLuzak vs durrrr) LarsLuzak sits in the SB in possession of a $116,194 stack (most of which came from durrrr on earlier hands), with durrrr in the BB behind a $33,797 stack.
LarsLuzak posts the $500 SB, durrrr posts the $1,000 BB and the cards are dealt.
LarsLuzak turns on the aggression preflop, raising $2,200, which is promptly called by durrrr. The flop falls 8d,6s,3s, and durrrr checks. Sensing he’s in the driver’s seat, LarsLuzak bets $3,000. durrrr completes the check-raise by raising $9,300. Not the one to be intimidated though, LarsLuzak re-raises him, shoving $110,494 into the pot, getting durrrr all-in (he makes the $21,707 call).

LarsLuzak shows 8s, 6h for the two pair, taking a firm lead against durrrr’s 8c,7d. In desperate need of help on the turn, durrrr sees his chances take a further hit as the Jd lands. The river brings no relief either, as the Qh returns an uncalled $82,398 to LarsLuzak, and awards him a pot of $67,593.

Before you bash Dwan for going all-in on a pair of 8s, please do remember that this is heads-up play and he had in fact made top pair on the flop, which counts as a monster under the circumstances.
