There has been a lot of hype surrounding the identity of the newest PokerStars pro. The
online poker room has even launched a promotion which rewarded those who managed to guess who the new pro was. On Thursday, the announcement which put an end to all the speculation was finally made: the newest
PokerStars pro is none other than Isaac Haxton. Haxton joins a truly illustrious crew aboard PokerStars’ Team Online: Mickey Petersen, Randy Lew and Shane Schleger are all Team Online members.
In the wake of the announcement, Haxton said he fully understood the responsibilities that come with representing a brand and a pro team, but that he was also keenly aware of the new opportunities. Haxton is indeed the perfect pick for the spot for several reasons: for starters, his first ever live poker cash was a PokerStars-connected one too: he finished runner-up in the PCA’s 2007 Main Event, taking home $861.7k for his efforts. Since then, Haxton has logged no fewer than 23 WSOP cash finishes, among them his highest ever score, which tipped the scale at $1.16 million and came at the $40k 40th anniversary event of the WSOP.
Haxton currently regards himself as a heads-up SNG specialist, and he said that he intended to hit Supernova Elite at the site in 2012, mostly by playing such tables.
He’s also looking to branch out into PLO though, which is indeed where most of the money seems to be at the present time.
The move also means that Haxton will drop his current online moniker (philivey2694) and will henceforth be known as “Ike Haxton”.
Haxton is currently grinding in Malta, but he travels around quite a bit too.
