The holidays may be drawing near, but that doesn’t mean nosebleed stakes professionals will take a break at Full Tilt Poker. Quite the contrary actually. The online poker action seems to speed up as December ticks by and the stakes are ever higher.
After Swedish mystery player Isildur1 broke the record for the largest ever
online poker pot two times within the same week a while ago, another record fell this week: the largest ever amount of money won in a single session. Isildur1 was once again involved, although he landed on the wrong side of the give and take again. He dropped 4.2 million dollars to Brian Hastings during a 3,000 hand session, which put the Swede back under the red line.
Isildur1 had a tough time a couple of weeks ago when a downswing of $4.1 million hit him following his largely successful sessions against Tom Dwan, Ilari Sahamies and Brian Townsend.
He decided to take a break from poker to get his act together and he showed up on
Full Tilt Poker once again on Friday, hungry to recover some of his losses. He began by dropping a further $535,000 before he regained his swagger and won $1.6 million. $1 million of that sum came from Brian Townsend and more than half a million from Tom Dwan who still didn’t seem to have found the antidote for the Swedish menace.
On Sunday, Isildur1 continued with the catching up, and soon almost clawed his way out of the red. At day’s end, he was about $100,000 off the mark, but Monday would see him pass the red line. On Monday, he lost around $400k to Townsend and Antonius, but won close to $2 million from Ilari Sahamies.
Tuesday was the day of the disaster and it all started out so well. Isildur1 began by playing “jungleman12” at $100/$200 NL Holdem and he took $471,000 from him, effectively felting his online poker account. He followed that up with a $722,000 win off Brian Townsend. At that point, he was $4.35 million up since his return to action. He then sat down to play with Hastings. Hastings began by dropping $700k to Isildur1, but he opened a can of whoop-ass after that sending the Swede on a tilt which ended up costing him $4.2 million.
