Jamie Gold’s 2006 WSOP Main Event Bracelet Sold

In May, we ran a piece on Jamie Gold’s move to auction off his 2006
WSOP Main Event bracelet and now we can tell you that the bidding war has apparently come to an end on Thursday, when the bracelet has reportedly found a new owner who paid $65.72k for the jewelry which came hand-in-hand with the largest ever WSOP Main Event and the largest prize ever awarded by the Series.
While rumor had it that it was Gold himself who was selling the bracelet, at this year’s WSOP he said he had nothing to do with the auction and that it had been entirely out of his hand since the very beginning.
Noah Fleisher of Heritage Auctions, the company handling the auction itself, confirmed Gold’s story, saying that there wasn’t much he could tell the poker press about the current owner of the jewelry. Fleisher also said that Gold had apparently sold the bracelet to someone and that person – the new owner – was the one looking to unload it.
There was a 3-week bidding period on the bracelet prior to Thursday night, which only managed to bring to price of the piece up to about $26k. On Thursday though, the bidding process was re-launched and this time, those interested could bid in person as well as online or through the phone. A new bidder surfaced and eventually the price settled at $65.72k.
The press and the poker world in general won’t find out a whole lot about the eventual winner of the auction either as Noah Fleisher confirmed that he too wished to remain anonymous. What Fleisher did reveal about the winner was though that he was a “fan of the game”. Gold is not the first WSOP Main Event winner to have his bracelet auctioned off.
