A little more than a week ago, 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel had a nasty surprise answering his doorbell when two men decided it would be an awesome idea to hit the champ in his house and to relieve him of an undisclosed sum of money, his beloved WSOP bracelet and a Rolex watch which he had apparently picked up from
PokerStars.
The brazen nature of the assault came as quite a shock for everyone. The assailants had apparently tied Duhamel up and beat him repeatedly.
While he incurred no lasting injuries, the champion did land in the hospital for a brief while. He emerged with strengthened resolve, thanking those who supported him through the ordeal and urging everyone who might’ve come across information in the case to contact police. The brutal invasion of his privacy had obviously left some emotional scars in the Champ who decided to offer up a $10k reward for everyone who might provide information leading to the recovery of his possessions and the arrest of the robbers.
The wheels of justice have been put in motion and once oiled with a little bit of extra cash, they picked up the pace fast. On Saturday, a woman named Bianca Royas-Latraverse was arrested in connection with the case. The police have apparently been tipped off by the public. She was charged with conspiracy and a bunch of other offenses.
As a result of that first arrest, two men were apprehended too: Andre Robert Perron and John Stephan Clark Lemay were charged with breaking and entering, forcible confinement and robbery among other things.
Duhamel’s PokerStars watch has apparently been recovered although there was no word about the whereabouts of his 2010 WSOP Main Event bracelet.
According to the latest rumors, a 4th person has also been arrested in the case. The investigation is still ongoing and therefore accurate information regarding the details is difficult to come by.
