Laak Joins PartyPoker Premier League VII

Phil Laak has probably never seen a televised poker table he didn’t like. In fact, he has probably never seen anything involving television cameras he did not want to be a part of. That may explain his eagerness to cough up the $125k buy-in to join the 16 player line-up of
PartyPoker’s Premier League VII, set to kick off at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal on November 20 (yes it is the same venue currently hosting the
Full Tilt Poker Main Event). Of course, the hundreds of thousands of dollars he may win there could also have something to do with his decision, as well as the fact that he will get to rub elbows with the cream of the live poker world there.
Whatever his reasons for joining are, the fact remains that he bought in, together with his friend Jeff Gross, and that out of the 16 available Premier League VII spots that leaves only 12 available (Tony G and Antonio Esfandiari – another of Laak’s friends - have already been confirmed).
The Premier League may indeed be a perfect fit for Laak on account of its televised nature, but then again Laak is a perfect fit for the event as well: always one of the most colorful poker personalities, Laak’s presence at the table makes for good television. Laak isn’t new to the Premier League either. On Premier League IV, he made the final table, entering the home stretch with a massive chip lead, an advantage he ended up squandering. He finished in 6th place. Then, on Premier League V, he made it all the way to 3rd place, before succumbing to Scott Seiver, who then went on to win it all.
Jeff Gross on the other hand has no Premier League experience whatsoever. In fact, he will make his debut come November 20. Gross has amassed around $1.4 million in live tournament winnings.
